"The national prayer is a continuation of our inner efforts, raising our prayers and hopes that the COVID-19 pandemic will end soon. Prayer to wish the best for the martyrs, who died during this pandemic," Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas noted in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.
The national prayer will be held virtually and be attended by those from ministries and institutions, caregivers, and students of Islamic boarding schools, leaders of mass organizations, religious educators, civil servants, as well as the public across Indonesia.
The Ministry of Religion will prepare a webinar link with a capacity to accommodate thousands, so that the general public can join.
The people are urged to follow it from their homes.
The event will also be broadcast live via the Ministry of Religion's social media account.
"We invite the people of Indonesia to join us in remembering Allah (dzikir) through prayers this Thursday night. Let us pray for the pandemic to end and pray for the martyrs who have preceded us," he stated.
Earlier, the Ministry of Religion had held a virtual prayer with #PrayFromHome to pray to God for the COVID-19 pandemic to end soon.
