Makassar (ANTARA) - Optimization of the digital service system has led to a twofold increase in the number of investors, President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Inarno Djajadi stated.

Djajadi made the remark in a press statement here on Friday.

The IDX president director attributed this achievement to the synergy and collaboration among all stakeholders in the Indonesian capital market.

The number of new stock investors has grown rapidly in just eight months this year, almost doubling, from 590,658 new single investor identification (SID) in 2020.

"This digital optimization began in 2019 and then maximized in 2020, and this trend has continued through synergy and collaboration among all capital market stakeholders," he remarked.

This condition has boosted investor numbers in 2021 and driven a rapid increase in the number of new investors this year, he affirmed.

This achievement coincided with the creation of a new record for the growth of SID in the capital market.

Meanwhile, the number of new investors in the capital market as of August 31, 2021, had reached 2,219,712, a nearly two-fold increase from last year's achievement, thereby bringing the current total count of capital market investors to 6,100,525.

According to Djajadi, the Self Regulatory Organization's (SRO's) focus on accelerating digital transformation in 2019 and 2020 has had a positive impact in the form of new achievements in the Indonesian capital market.

Meanwhile, the SRO comprises the IDX, PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI), and PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) along with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
