Later, after the simultaneous village head elections, preparations will begin. We want our city to remain healthy
Purwokerto, Central Java (ANTARA) - The Banyumas Police Force has readied six thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccine for travelers coming to Banyumas District, Central Java, during the year-end holidays.

"We urge posts at the far end, such as Ajibarang and Wangon, to not be like in the past, which are security posts but should serve as service posts. Later, there will be the involvement of the national defense force and police force, regional governments, and workshops," Banyumas Police Chief Commissioner M. Firman L. Hakim said in Purwokerto, Banyumas District, on Monday.

Hakim noted that the service posts would provide various services to travelers, including random antigen tests, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, he expects people coming to Banyumas to be honest about their health conditions, including their vaccination history.

"If they had only been vaccinated once, we will vaccinate them later. I have prepared six thousand doses from the police force, while the national defense force and the regional government have also prepared vaccines. We do not employ favoritism, (since for us) the important aspect is that our people are honest," he emphasized.

He admitted that vaccinating travelers would be a challenge for the officers, but the most important aspect was that herd immunity could be maintained.

However, Hakim said his side could not as yet confirm the number of service posts serving travelers, including when the activity would begin.

"Later, after the simultaneous village head elections, preparations will begin. We want our city to remain healthy," he said.

The chief also noted that his force had prepared vaccination outlets to serve residents after the simultaneous voting in 27 villages on December 15, 2021.
