Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives' Commission III legislator, Sari Yuliati, urged National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to expedite the establishment of a police precinct for Mandalika's special economic zone in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara.

"We urge the police chief to approve the proposal to establish the Mandalika Police Precinct to ensure that domestic and international agendas hosted at the Mandalika special economic zone would be organized smoothly and safely without any security disruption," Yuliati noted in a written statement here on Thursday.

The legislator pointed out that residents living near the special economic zones required security assurance at the special economic zone that would host more domestic and international events in future.

The establishment of a police precinct will also enhance the police forces' duty to maintain regional security essential to maintaining West Nusa Tenggara's good image as the host for domestic and international events, she affirmed.

"During the evaluation meeting for the World Superbike organization last November, we had detected some criminal groups that intended to disrupt the international event with their criminal acts. Hence, all aspects necessary to ensure smoothness in the implementation of the agenda, including the security aspect, must be readied properly," Yuliati remarked.
