Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Kulon Progo district government showcased the region's creative economy potential at the Tugu Malioboro area of Yogyakarta International Airport as a means of presenting or promoting tourist villages.

Head of the Kulon Progo Tourism Office, Joko Mursito, stated that the creative economy exhibition involved 20 tourism villages in Kulon Progo, comprising 14 developing and developed villages as well as six pioneering tourism villages. He delivered the statement in Kulon Progo on Saturday.

"This exhibition is conducted to bring out the potential of the creative economy. They have to work hard to foster, train, and then promote what will be contested. The goal is to motivate tourist villages to (utilize) their potential (to the fullest)," Mursito stated.

Apart from the exhibition, which kicked off on January 28, 2022, the Calendar of Events was also launched. It was the result of a collaboration among the Communications and Information Technology Office, Cultural Affairs Office, Agriculture and Food Office and other stakeholders. The aim was to realize world-class sustainable culture-based collaborative tourism.

Head of Kulon Progo District Sutedjo lauded the 2022 Creative Economy Exhibition that served to promote tourism in Kulon Progo as well as to introduce the public to the potential of the creative economy.

"With this exhibition, we can prove that tourism in Kulon Progo is not only about (its) nature and culture but (also about) the creative potential that is showcased here," he stated.

Sutedjo added that this activity was an effort to promote tourist attractions in Kulon Progo. From the launch of the tourism agenda for a year, the Tourism Office will apparently handle several activities in collaboration with other stakeholders.

"This means that collaborative tourism development in Kulon Progo is very real and not just on paper. I really laud the (stakeholders) who have participated in developing tourism here," he said.
