Sorong, W Papua (ANTARA) - Sorong city police, West Papua, have launched a manhunt for 10 people suspected of setting fire to Doubel0 karaoke lounge during a group clash on January 25, 2022.



The incident led to the death of 17 persons.



The suspects, identified by their initials as PP, HR, PS, MS, YR, JR, DR, AR, JF, and FM, have been put on the wanted list, director of general of crime investigation of West Papua provincial police, Senior Commissioner Novia Jaya, informed in Sorong on Wednesday.



He expressed the hope that the families of the fugitives would be willing to hand them over to the police for due legal process.



The fugitives played a crucial role during the clash between the two groups of people in Sorong city, he said.

Some of the suspects gathered people, while others gave the order to set fire to the karaoke lounge, he added.



The police will continue to hunt for the 10 fugitives until they are processed in accordance with the law, he said.



The police also monitored a suspected hideout of the fugitives, he added. Hopefully, they can be arrested in the near future, he said.

Officials are also looking for two fugitives suspected of gashing a resident during the bloody clash on January 25, 2022, he said.
