Not panic means that if you are exposed to the virus, then look at the symptomsJakarta (ANTARA) - The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Jakarta has now exceeded the daily tally recorded during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic in July 2021, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has said.
"Yesterday, the daily cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta exceeded the peak of daily cases in July," Baswedan informed at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday.
As of February 6, 2022, 15,825 new cases were recorded in the city, which was higher than the 14,619 additions reported in July 2021, he said.
The trend in cases has caught the attention of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), he added.
Baswedan then asked Jakarta residents to remain vigilant, always wear masks, avoid crowds, and avoid unnecessary travel.

However, people must not panic, especially when exposed to COVID-19, he said. They must also pay attention to the severity of symptoms so that they can determine the next steps, he added.

Residents who test positive for COVID-19 can go to a health facility or self-isolate at home if they experience mild symptoms, he noted.

"But if the house is not suitable for self-isolation, patients can contact the Task Force to be relocated to the integrated isolation center," Baswedan added.
He also assured the public about the bed occupancy rate (BPR) at the COVID-19 referral hospital in Jakarta, saying that though the bed occupancy has exceeded 60 percent, most patients have experienced mild symptoms.

"Of the 60 percent, 12 percent of them had severe and moderate symptoms. The 48 percent actually did not have to be in the hospital. This meant that the transmission was high but the severity was low to moderate," he explained.
As of February 6, 2022, the number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta reached 980,970, with 67,219 active cases, 13,794 deaths, and 899,957 recoveries, as per official data.
