Hence, we cannot let our guard down. Always be cautious and uphold the health protocolsJakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate has urged Indonesians to remain cautious and follow the health protocols even though COVID-19 cases have shown a declining trend over the past week.
"Observing the daily case trend over the last several days, it can be said that a stable decline has occurred," he noted in a press statement issued on Tuesday.
The number of confirmed cases nationwide was recorded at 34,418 on Monday, a significant decline compared to 48,484 cases the previous day, the minister said.
Based on region-wise data, five provinces showed a downward trend in infections: Jakarta, Bali, Banten, Maluku, and West Nusa Tenggara, he added.
Despite the decline in case count, the national bed occupancy ratio (BOR) is still at 38 percent, he noted.
The result of public activity restrictions (PPKM) evaluation has also shown that several districts and cities have entered Level 3 and 4 PPKM due to a surge in the number of inpatients in the regions, he informed.
"Hence, we cannot let our guard down. Always be cautious and uphold the health protocols. I also would like to remind, get vaccinated immediately," he remarked.
Even after one year since the vaccination rollout in Indonesia, there are still Indonesians who have not received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Plate said.
He then urged citizens to immediately take the doses that have been allocated by the government to protect the public.
He also asked them to not harbor any suspicions against COVID-19 vaccines, saying that the government is providing vaccines tested by the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and at the international level for safety.
"Let us protect each other. We cannot have any family members or relatives that have not been vaccinated," the minister emphasized.
He also invited people who have received the complete dose to diligently check their PeduliLindungi application for their third or booster shot schedule.
As of Monday, only 8.6 million people have received the COVID-19 booster vaccine, the Health Ministry reported.
