On behalf of the Riau provincial government, we mourn the tragedy that has befallen the residents in Pasaman and West Pasaman sometime ago
Kota Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA) - The Riau provincial government delivered 10 logistical aid vehicles and dispatched dozens of personnel from here on Saturday to assist earthquake victims in West Pasaman and Pasaman, West Sumatra.

"On behalf of the Riau provincial government, we mourn the tragedy that has befallen the residents in Pasaman and West Pasaman sometime ago," Riau Governor Syamsuar told reporters here on Saturday.

"Convey our regards to the West Sumatra governor, district heads, and all government officials that are currently facing a trial from Allah SWT," he remarked.

He expressed optimism that this trial would strengthen the residents' faith in Allah SWT.

'We certainly also pray, be faithful to Allah SWT, so that Allah SWT protects our nation from all disasters," he remarked.

He also expects the aid from the Riau provincial government to be utilized optimally.

The governor then bid farewell to the Riau provincial government's aid team and reminded them to maintain road safety en route to the location.

"I hope no difficulties would be faced during the journey to West Pasaman," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of Riau's Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Edy Afrizal reported that the aid delivered to Pasaman and West Pasaman came in the form of logistics and daily necessities to alleviate their burden.

This aid comprises 15 tons of rice, one thousand boxes of mineral water, 3,500 cans of sardines, 350 kg of sugar, and 350 packages of cooking oil.

In addition, 525 boxes of instant noodles, two hundred rolled up tents, two hundred pieces of mattress, and 1,500 packages of baby food were part of the aid.

The total value of this aid reached Rp663,454,500.

The total number of personnel within the Riau aid team stood at 25 people, comprising 11 BPBD officials, 12 Social Office workers, and two Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP) officials.
