Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT MRT Jakarta served 47,047 passengers on Tuesday , the second day of Eid al-Fitr increase of 181 percent compared to the year-ago period.



"This is equal to an increase of 181 percent compared to the number of passengers in the same period last year," corporate secretariat division head at PT MRT Jakarta, Rendi Alhilal, said here on Wednesday.



Most of the people using MRT Jakarta were those who wanted to go to shopping centers and tourist destinations around the Jakarta MRT line stations, such as Bundaran HI, Blok M, Dukuh Atas, Lebak Bulus, and Senayan areas, Alhilal informed.

Lia (42), from Ciledug, Tangerang, Banten, said that she really enjoyed the integrated transportation service on the second day of Eid. She said that she invited her family around Jakarta while visiting shopping centers.



Further, traveling on MRT Jakarta proved faster and there was no need to wait in queue to park her vehicle, she added.

"So far, the Jakarta MRT service has been great, and I use it every day," she said.



The same sentiment was conveyed by a Garut, West Java resident, Ernest (43), who said that he intentionally chose to ride the MRT so his family could enjoy the experience.

"I was paying a visit to a family home in Jakarta. The plan is to try the MRT and go to Pondok Indah. Taking the MRT is comfortable and fast. Previously, I have taken the MRT and now, I want to invite my family to try the MRT," he remarked.



MRT Jakarta said it is ensuring passenger convenience by reducing the buildup of passengers at the entrance through the MRT-J application.



The MRT-J app allows prospective passengers to purchase tickets and pay through a selection of e-wallets.
