We often coordinate with the provincial government. It is very supportive of our efforts toward realizing the revival of a sustainable tourism sector
Serang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), Banten, has expressed optimism that tourism in the province will revive, with the easing of restrictions stimulating an increase in tourist visits during the Eid period.

The increase in domestic tourist visits is also supported by the availability of good infrastructure in the province, Chairman of the Banten PHRI Ahmad Sari Alamsaid here on Friday.

"PHRI expresses its gratitude for the infrastructure provided by the current government. Because, due to the good infrastructure support, the level of tourist visits during this year's Eid holiday is quite high," he added.

Currently, Banten is a favorite vacation destination for people from Banten and Jakarta, Alam noted. Tourists from Jakarta and its surrounding areas prefer to visit Banten, which is more accessible due to the improvement in road conditions.

Regarding the cleanliness, safety, and comfort aspects, he assured that all measures have been maintained properly. Moreover, the PHRI is working with the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the Banten provincial government to provide the best services to tourists.

"We often coordinate with the provincial government. It is very supportive of our efforts toward realizing the revival of a sustainable tourism sector," he said.

According to Alam, sustainable tourism is a common goal of efforts toward reviving the tourism sector, with various programs resulting from joint synergy.

The synergy has been realized with the obligation of tourism players to obtain Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment (CHSE) certification and provision of education to the public about the importance of ensuring the comfort of tourists.

He informed that currently, around one thousand hotel and lodging rooms in Banten are occupied by local tourists as well as travelers from other regions.

He predicted that tourist visits during this year's Eid period peaked on Wednesday (May 5, 2022), and tourists would continue to visit until Sunday (May 8), which marks the end of the Eid collective leave days.
