Jawa Barat (ANTARA) - Officers from the Bogor Police Department have seized two ambulances found carrying tourists to Puncak and violating the one-way traffic policy.

Chief of the Bogor Police Department Adjunct Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin said that they intercepted one actual ambulance and another vehicle posing as an ambulance. He delivered the statement from Puncak area, Bogor.

Officers found the first ambulance driving toward Puncak from the Ciawi area around 2 p.m. local time on Saturday.

At first, they intended to escort the ambulance.

“Initially, we wanted to escort it since there was nobody doing it. If there was anyone sick (in the ambulance), we wanted to escort them,” Imanuddin informed.

Upon inspection, instead of sick people, the police found 12 tourists in the vehicle.

"There were 12 of them, including children. They sat in the middle of the carpet because the middle seats can be removed," he said.

The officers confiscated the vehicle immediately and the passengers were sent back to their respective homes.

"I made sure it was not an (actual) hospital ambulance but an ambulance given by another party to the people," he informed.

The second vehicle was intercepted at the intersection of Taman Safari, Cisarua, Bogor, at 3.30 p.m. local time.

At the time, the officers intended to escort the ambulance to Puncak.

However, it turned out that the ambulance was carrying six passengers from Megamendung, all of whom wanted to travel to the Puncak area.

Further, the officers found that the vehicle they were in was not a real ambulance. Imanuddin explained that the word "ambulance" was written on the vehicle, which departed from Megamendung.

So far, the two vehicles have been seized as evidence and the drivers have been examined by police.
