"During this second G20 Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting, G20 EdWG delegations managed to agree on the importance of mutual assistance-based transformation for education recovery," G20 EdWG Head Iwan Syahril noted here on Friday.
The G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the G20 Presidency this year.
The Education Working Group is one of the working groups in G20 that examines the factors involved in facilitating or hindering the right to education and the achievement of higher education.

In addition to accentuating the importance of mutual assistance for collective recovery, Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim also stated that Indonesia harbors a vision and leaps into the future and is not merely catching up.
"Mutual assistance and this vision became the solid foundation of the ministry's leadership in the G20 EdWG," he added.
The Merdeka Belajar (Freedom in Learning) breakthrough brought up during the EdWG meeting serves as a good example that become the pillar of mutual assistance-based transformation in education, Syahril noted.
In addition, it serves as education priority agenda in G20.
The second G20 EdWG meeting held in Bandung on May 18-19, 2022, discussed four issues.
The first aspect concerned the ministry's initiative to update the world's commitment in education during the United Nations' (UN's) Transforming Education Summit (TES).
The second revolved around the G20 EdWG priority agenda of Quality Education for All and Digital Technology in Education.
Finally, the third and fourth relate to formulation of the G20 EdWG report and the education minister-level declaration draft.
The second G20 EdWG meeting received support and praises from several countries.
Delegation head from Germany Vera Kammann noted that Germany thanked the ministry for its hard work so far.
"The agenda brought up during the G20 EdWG is an impressive and ambitious agenda. We are excited to be able to support Indonesia's goal in its leadership in G20," Kammann remarked.
