PTS must be visionary, tenacious, and innovative in order to produce graduates who meet the needs and master the technologyJakarta (ANTARA) - Private universities (PTS) must make a real contribution to the development of Indonesian human resources, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy has said.
"PTS must make a real contribution to human resource development in welcoming the golden era of Indonesia 2045," he stated in a written statement on Tuesday.
The statement was delivered after the handing over of the Decree of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the virtual inauguration of the Karanganyar Muhammadiyah University (Umuka).

The minister also invited private universities to contribute and play an active role in the development of Indonesian human resources.
"PTS must be visionary, tenacious, and innovative in order to produce graduates who meet the needs and master the technology," he added.
Effendy said that the government's current focus is on developing superior and qualified human resources.
"Superior and qualified Indonesian human resources are Indonesian people who are professional, productive, innovative, and able to compete with Indonesian personality," he emphasized.

However, the development of Indonesian human resources is still posing serious challenges. The reason, as shown by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data collected as of February 2021, is that almost 90 percent of the Indonesian workforce has an education level of high school level and lower.
"In the next 15–25 years, the spread of the Indonesian workforce will change. The position of those with low education will be shifted by the generations below them," Effendy said.
For this reason, he invited all parties to contribute to improving the education sector and providing the best human resources for future generations.
"Because higher education plays a very important role in the development of qualified human resources," he noted.
For this reason, the government has asked all relevant parties to participate in realizing affordable and quality higher education.
"We also congratulate the establishment of the University of Muhammadiyah Karanganyar. Hopefully, in the future, it will become a university that is able to realize higher education that contributes to the progress and welfare of the nation," he remarked.
