Jakarta (ANTARA) - The G20 countries support the priority issues that Indonesia has raised at the forum, the Indonesian G20 Presidency's Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) head, Mira Tayyiba, said during a webinar on Friday.

These issues comprise the post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery and connectivity, digital literacy and competency, and cross-border data flow.

The G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.

The DEWG, one of the working groups of the G20, focuses on issues related to the digital economy and highlights the central role of digital transformation in the broader context of economic and social growth.

The Communication and Informatics Ministry, as the organizer of the DEWG, has so far held two sessions of the forum.

The discussion surrounding the three priority issues during those sessions proceeded well thanks to the support from member countries, Tayyiba remarked at the webinar on ‘Exploring Economic Aspects in DEWG's Three Priority Issues.’

The discussion on priority issues during the sessions not only revolved around conceptual matters, but also real beneficial actions, especially in economic aspects, she informed.

The ministry is currently preparing for the third DEWG session, which will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, in July this year.

The second session of the DEWG in Yogyakarta in May focused on digital connectivity.

The issue of digital connectivity was divided into five sub-topics. Under the first, the DEWG is pushing people-centered connectivity, wherein the issue of digital connectivity and recovery is centered on human interest.

The second concerns cyber security that supports businesses. The third revolves around the G20 Digital Innovation Network as a follow-up to the Digital Innovation Lead of the 2021 Italian G20 Presidency.

The fourth sub-topic relates to the Digital Transformation Expo and the last covers the discussion on the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU's) Smart Village and Smart Island Initiative.
