Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian General Practitioners Association (PDUI) collaborated with digital platform from India MediSage to strengthen the competence of doctors in Indonesia in terms of digital technology.

“We hope that what we have achieved can be improved, so that competency strengthening can be carried out in a good and structured manner. The challenge ahead is the big data problem that we cannot avoid. Everything has to be adaptive to changes globally,” Chairman of PDUI Dr. Abraham Padlan said in a statement on Sunday.

This collaboration can contribute to strengthen the competence of doctors in Indonesia in terms of digital technology, Padlan said.

Digital platform from India MediSage signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Cooperation of Digital-Based General Practitioner Competency Strengthening Program with the Indonesian General Practitioner Association (PDUI) on Friday (24/6).

Padlan said that the signing was an important momentum to build effective communication between doctors throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Head of Indonesian Collegium of Medicine Prof. Syarifuddin Wahid said that this collaboration could be utilized by all general practitioners in Indonesia.

The content contained in the digital platform can increase the competence of doctors, he said.

“We are happy because the learning materials can be used to improve the competence of doctors. As a result, they can also work abroad. The PDUI and the Collegium are currently trying to get a certificate to be able to work abroad," Wahid said.

If the certificate has been obtained and with the support of competence through the collaboration of PDUI and Medisage, doctors throughout Indonesia will have wider opportunities to work in Indonesia and abroad.

Director and Co Founder of MediSage Abhishek Ghosh said that his party wanted to play a role in increasing the competence of doctors in Indonesia through digital platforms.

The presence of digital platform can facilitate the dissemination of information on the latest scientific developments in the medical field, he said.

Indonesia is a maritime country that consists of thousands of islands. As a result, so doctors are spread all over Indonesia.

He said that the digital platform which has been used by doctors in more than 150 countries could also be accessed through applications on Android, IOS, and websites.

With its presence in Indonesia, MediSage has a vision to increase the latest medical knowledge skills to health workers digitally so that it can be accessed by all doctors in Indonesia, even to remote areas.

The digital platform also has a team that can help create awareness among fellow doctors at each programs through multichannel such as Whatsapp, e-mail, and etc. Thus, the benefits of the educational program can reach maximum number of doctors.

Ghosh said that his party will continue to support doctor associations in Indonesia to increase knowledge in the health sector in Indonesia.

"We will also continue to collaborate with health experts abroad as well as hold international conferences that include medical professionals in Indonesia," he said.
