We must understand the adaptation processJakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, urged to extend the period to disseminate information and transition to purchase the People's Bulk Cooking Oil (MCGR) through the PeduliLindungi application to three months.
The decision was taken since several official retailers registered with the Bulk Cooking Oil Information System 2.0 (Simirah 2.0) and Logistics and Retail Service Business Actors (PUJLE) had not downloaded the QR Code for the PeduliLindungi application.
"I request that the period to raise awareness and the transition period to use PeduliLindungi to buy cooking oil be extended for three months. We must understand the adaptation process," the minister noted during a cooking oil evaluation meeting on July 1, as quoted in a written statement received here, Saturday.
During the extension of the awareness-raising period, the public can still purchase MCGR without having to show their NIK.

However, the government is optimistic that retailers and buyers would immediately start using and familiarizing themselves with the use of the PeduliLindungi application in the MCGR buying and selling process. Hence, retailers will be encouraged to immediately print a QR Code of PeduliLindungi via Simirah 2.0, or PUJLE, and display it in their store.
In addition, the government will continue to develop the use of the PeduliLindungi application as a tool for monitoring and controlling the distribution of cooking oil to anticipate another increase in cooking oil prices in the market.
Pandjaitan also ensured that the government was currently striving to strike a balance between the upstream and downstream targets related to cooking oil control.
"Currently, the price of cooking oil has reached Rp14 thousand per liter in Java-Bali, so we can start relaxing policies on the upstream side carefully to accelerate exports and improve the price of fresh palm oil fruit at the farmer level," he stated.

The government had also agreed to immediately push for the adjustment of the MGCR price outside Java-Bali that was still not in accordance with the Highest Retail Price (HET).
Minister Pandjaitan had urged the Trade Ministry to accelerate the implementation of the people's packaged cooking oil (MinyaKita) program.
"To accelerate the (implementation of the) MinyaKita program, we must be able to provide attractive incentives for producers, so they can move faster and the delivery will be easier since they will use ordinary distribution channels, such as container ships, and not have to use bulk ships," he added.
