The Bhayangkara Nararya Star is an honor for the National Police's personnel, who have greatly contributed (to the country) with remarkable courage, wisdom, and fortitude for the advancement of the police.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) awarded the Bhayangkara Nararya Star medal to three police officers during the commemoration ceremony of the 76th Bhayangkara Anniversary at the Semarang City Police Academy, Central Java Province, Tuesday.

"The Bhayangkara Nararya Star is an honor for the National Police's personnel, who have greatly contributed (to the country) with remarkable courage, wisdom, and fortitude for the advancement of the police," military secretary of the president Rear Marshal M. Tonny Harjono stated.

The Bhayangkara Nararya Star is the third or lowest class of Indonesian national police meritorious service star.

Meanwhile, the ceremony was held to commemorate the establishment of Indonesian National Police, which was founded on July 1, 1946.

The medal was awarded according to Presidential Decree Number 46/PK of 2022 concerning the awarding of Bhayangkara Nararya Star, the military secretary of the president remarked.

Senior Commissioner Muhammad Alfian Hidayat became the first recipient of the award at the commemoration ceremony.

Currently, he is serving as commander of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police.

The honor was also bestowed on Adjunct Commissioner Sri Poniyah and First Adjunct Inspector Ahmad Mustahik, who are currently in service at the National Police headquarters and the Jayapura Resort Police of the Papua Regional Police respectively.

After Harjono read out the presidential decree and announced the award recipients, Jokowi, who acted as the inspector of the commemoration ceremony of the 76th Bhayangkara Anniversary, handed out the medals to the three officers.

The ceremony was also attended by former Indonesian president Megawati Soekarnoputri as well as several former vice presidents of Indonesia, including Try Sutrisno, Hamzah Haz, and Muhammad Jusuf Kalla.

In addition, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as well as Indonesian Military Commander General Andika Perkasa were present at the ceremony.
