Even among the clerics there are those who oblige to slaughter sacrificial animals
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The sacrifice on Eid al-Adha, or the Day of Sacrifice, became a form of sensitivity and social concern for fellow human beings, according to Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

"Sacrifice can be a proof of social sensitivity for us to share and care for others, especially now, during the post-pandemic phase," Amin noted during a video recording broadcast on Saturday.

According to the vice president, slaughtering sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha is a Sunnah (subject to reward but not punished if ignored), which is a highly recommended practice for Muslims.

"Even among the clerics there are those who oblige to slaughter sacrificial animals," he remarked.

"(It is) because sacrifice of animals affected by foot and mouth disease (PMK) is invalid,” the vice president stated.

Amin expressed optimism that this year's Eid al-Adha celebrations can be a momentum to strengthen brotherhood between fellow human beings.
