Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), while receiving the visit of Timor-Leste President José Ramos Horta, invited representatives of religious leaders from that nation to attend the Religion of Twenty (R20) meeting in Bali.

"We ask him to send representatives of religious leaders in Timor-Leste, and there is a Bishop of Timor-Leste who will soon be appointed as cardinal by the Pope. God willing, he will represent," Chairperson of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf noted in a press statement at the PBNU Building, here, Wednesday, after receiving a visit from President Ramos Horta.

The R20 meeting is planned to be held on November 2-3, 2022, in Bali, Staquf stated.

The R20 will be attended by religious leaders from across the world and linked to the G20 forum led by Indonesia in November.

PBNU Chairperson Yahya Cholil Staquf earlier noted that R20 became an additional activity in the G20 based on the government's approval.

"There is an agreement from the government that the R20 will be one of the side events or additional activities in the G20 forum in November," he stated.

As one of the activities under the series of events to commemorate the NU Centenary, the R20 is aimed at facilitating discussions between the world's religious leaders, so that religion can be a solution to various problems.
