I and the attorney general have the same vision to clean up state companiesJakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir commended firm actions taken by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) in the investigation of corruption and fund misappropriation cases in state companies.
"From the very first day, we continue to synergize and collaborate with the AGO. I and the attorney general have the same vision to clean up state companies," Thohir noted in his statement here, Wednesday.
Earlier, the AGO designated four individuals as suspects in connection with the investigation into the misappropriation of development funds in PT Waskita Beton Precast and commenced a new investigation on the alleged corruption in the procurement of Rp2.25 trillion (US$150 million) worth of transmission towers for state electricity company PT PLN in 2016.

The minister said that in rectifying corrupt practices in state-owned companies, the AGO is among the institutions assisting the ministry in terms of the legal aspect.
The ministry and the AGO had also shared information with one another on the progress in investigation with regard to cases on state-owned companies, such as the case in flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, he pointed out.
Investigations against state companies affirmed the government's commitment to reforming state companies, Thohir said while reasserting his position to not tolerate behavior that harmed the state and the people.

"State-owned companies, as one-third of our national economic driving force, have a vital role (for the country). If the company administration is not right, it is not only the company that will be at loss but also the people and the state," the minister emphasized.
He then expressed optimism that collaboration between the ministry and AGO would enhance further while welcoming all other parties looking to collaborate to improve state companies.
"We do not want state-owned enterprises to become 'exclusive' because now is the era of collaboration. That is why the ministry and the attorney general's office continue to collaborate to address various issues in state-owned companies," Thohir stated.
