Jakarta (ANTARA) - Stage-wide development of the PeduliLindungi application aims to create an individual health application that would later not solely be used to store COVID-19 test and vaccination results, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated.

"PeduliLindungi will later become an individual public health application or a citizen health app. Right now, the data in PeduliLindungi is only the results of the PCR test and the COVID-19 vaccination. Later, vaccinations other than COVID-19 will be included (in the application)," the minister delivered the statement here on Wednesday.

"Now, it has begun gradually, (development of the application in terms of more) vaccination (listed)," he added.

Sadikin remarked that the list of vaccinations to be included in the application would incorporate the mandatory ones for children. The application would also collect data on the results of medical check-ups at laboratories and hospitals, such as blood checks and ultrasound.

Sadikin is confident that this measure would have a positive impact, especially for doctors, as it would allow them to see the patients' medical records with ease.

"All patients' data will be accessible to them in PeduliLindungi. Doctors can see their health conditions or how their electronic medical record (looks like). Then if, for example, they were referred to another hospital, then the hospital receiving them would immediately know (of their condition)," the minister explained.

He also expects the PeduliLindingi application to be able to connect with wearable gadgets being extensively used by the public to support a healthy lifestyle on a daily basis.

"We want devices, such as the Apple Watch, Samsung Watch, to be able to connect (with the application)," he affirmed.

Although the scope of the application would be expanded, Minister Sadikin said that the ministry would not change the name of the application since it was already popular among members of the public.

"The name is already nice, PeduliLindungi. Although, at first, it was difficult to pronounce, but now, it is so popular," he concluded.
