Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government has decided to relocate fire victims from Simprug, South Jakarta, to flats without delay as they are currently occupying green zones or public places.

"Yes, I think it is a good suggestion (to relocate residents affected by the fire) because there are still green zones or public places in Jakarta that should not be intended for housing, but are still occupied with (makeshift accommodations)" Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said here on Wednesday.

The fire victims will be directed to occupy flats provided by the Jakarta provincial government, he informed.

He emphasized that his administration will find the best solution regarding the relocation.

"It becomes our work together; we are together to ensure the presence of green open spaces, including the green zones in Jakarta. We will find a solution," he said.

Regarding the location of the flats that will host the 133 families affected by the fire, Patria informed that he will check the availability of the flats in Jakarta.

Moreover, he said that his administration will try its best to place the residents in the available flats because flats are being prioritized for underprivileged residents, residents of dense villages affected by evictions, and flood and fire victims.

"What is certain is that we continue to build rental flats, and flood and fire victims are a priority," he added.

Earlier, South Jakarta Mayor Munjirin had assured that his administration would facilitate all the needs of fire victims, especially children so that they can still go to school though their items have been burned.

"We also brought 100 mattresses; hopefully, they can be comfortable to sleep on. Next, we will try to monitor the conditions. Hopefully, the residents can be well served," he said.
