Riau Islands aims to become the general championTanjungpinang, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - Riau Islands will be the host for the 2022 National Kickboxing Championship scheduled to be held in Batam on October 6-9.
This year's championship will feature 80 classes in which representatives from 34 provinces across Indonesia are planned to participate.
"It is an honor for Riau Islands to be chosen to be the host of the 2022 National Kickboxing Championship," Chairman of the Riau Islands Kickboxing Board Sirajudin Nur noted here on Saturday.
He expects Riau Islands' kickboxing athletes to record the best achievements at the event, given its status as the host.

He also urged all managers, coaches, and athletes to truly prepare themselves in facing this championship.
"Riau Islands aims to become the general champion," he remarked.
He also reminded camp managers to actively coordinate with the Riau Islands Kickboxing Board over the logistics of the matches, preparations, and problems that athletes face.
"There cannot be any problems, specifically for athletes, who will compete. Communicate with the Riau Islands Kickboxing Board to talk about the necessary support," Nur remarked.
Daily Chief of Riau Islands Kickboxing Yakob Sutjipto noted that preparations for the championship had, thus far, reached 80 percent.

As head of the Committee for the 2022 Riau Islands National Kickboxing Championship, he will ensure that the competition featuring a martial arts form, combining kicking and punching, will be successful.
"Every necessary preparation is almost complete, including the match venue in Botania 2 Batam Mall," he remarked.
On a separate occasion, Head of the Riau Islands Youth and Sports Office M. Ikhsan fully supports the 2022 Riau Islands Kickboxing Championship as an effort to guide kickboxing athletes, specifically those from Riau Islands.
He expects that Riau Islands' kickboxing athletes can promote the province at the national and also international level.
"Turn this event into a platform to produce world-class kickboxing athletes," he remarked.
