This bill is the government's effort to help teachers receive proper welfareJakarta (ANTARA) - The National Education System Bill (RUU Sisdiknas) improves the welfare of teachers in the country, Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Iwan Syahril, stated.
"This bill is the government's effort to help teachers receive proper welfare," he noted at a media briefing here on Monday.
According to Syahril, the bill regulates that teachers, both state civil apparatus (ASN) and non-state civil apparatus (non-ASN), who have received professional allowances, will continue to get professional allowances until retirement as long as they continue to meet the requirements in accordance with the law.

Moreover, the bill regulates that teachers, who have not been certified, will get a decent income without having to wait for the certification program first.
Uncertified ASN teachers would receive a decent income as per the ASN Law.
"Thus, ASN teachers, who have not received professional allowances, will automatically get an increase in income through the allowances regulated in the ASN Law, without having to wait in a long queue for the certification (program)," he explained.
Meanwhile, the government will help non-ASN teachers, who have not received professional allowances, by increasing the schools' operational assistance, thereby allowing the schools' managements to provide higher salaries to teachers.

The government has proposed the designation of the National Education System Bill as a priority bill for this year's National Legislative Program to the House of Representatives (DPR).
The bill will integrate three existing laws regulating national education, the Head of the Educational Standards, Curriculum and Assessment Agency (BSKAP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Anindito Aditomo, earlier noted in a written statement on Friday, August 26, 2022.
The three laws that would be replaced by the National Education System Bill are Law Number 20 of 2003 on the National Education System, Law Number 14 of 2005 on Teachers and University Lecturers, and Law Number 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, he explained.
