"PKK is expected to have more young cadres," she remarked while closing the supervision, monitoring, and evaluation (SME) of the top ten programs of PKK in Ancol, Pademangan, here on Friday.
The top ten programs of PKK are the practice of Pancasila ideology, gotong royong or cooperation, food, clothing, family management, education, health, participation in co-operatives, environmental sustainability, and health development.
The PKK, whose units are spread across Indonesia, is a civil organization that involves women in supporting national development and growth. PKK also assists the government in efforts to reduce stunting and supports immunization, hygiene, and family planning activities.
For instance, under the food program, PKK members educate local communities about the quality of meat and hold healthy meal competitions to raise public awareness about healthy food.
An organizational regeneration is necessary to strengthen the Jakarta PKK in serving the public, Farhati said.
“The more youths want to be involved, take responsibility in communities' activities through PKK, the better," she added.
She also visited a garden created by the PKK in Hamlet 01 (RW01) of Ancol and observed an activity to increase family incomes at RW02 as well as the Mawar I integrated health post for toddlers, a mothers' support group, a Health House (Rumah Sehat), a green environment alley, and a waste bank. She was accompanied by the head of local family character development, Ellisa Sumarlin.
She expressed the hope that the visit would help identify things that need to be added and activities that can be improved.
The visit also aimed to motivate North Jakarta PKK cadres to improve their work. North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim was also present during the activity.
