"In the past, it might take 10 to 15 days for participants to claim their insurance policy. Now, it only takes 15 minutes by using the Jamsostek Mobile application. This is one of our efforts to accelerate our service for the participants' satisfaction," Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated at the Presidential Palace, Friday, after a meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) with ranks of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and State Secretary Minister Pratikno.
"We have made improvements because we were urged to accelerate the service process by simplifying and enriching the types of choices, including by digitalization in our system," BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Director of Service Roswita Nilakurnia remarked.
Nilakurnia remarked that President Jokowi also urged her side to expedite manual services for participants.
"President Jokowi urged us to speed up the waiting period, from 15 days to one day, only for manual claim and 10-15 minutes for claim via application. We also hoped that the manual process would take less than one day. It would become our homework to improve services and information going forward," Nilakurnia remarked.
On this occasion, the Board of Directors of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also reported on several performances that they had recorded during the 19 months since being inaugurated by President Jokowi on February 22, 2021. One of the performances is the increase in the number of participants, from 28 million to 35 million.
However, President Jokowi still pressed for an increase in the number of participants in the informal sector.
"Last year, the number of participants from the informal sector grew by 42 percent year on year, and as of September, it already reached 62 percent. The president lauded it, and we still have homework to do to attract participants from the village, including farmers, fishermen, and vulnerable workers," the agency's director of membership, Zainudin, stated.
Vulnerable workers are the workforce unable to pay BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's monthly fees. Hence, their participation will be covered by the government.
"From the target of 20 million for vulnerable workers, only 1.2 million have been protected. We want to accelerate the efforts to protect these underprivileged workers to avoid risks in the future," he added.
