Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry organized the “2022 National-Level ICT Competition for the Disabled Workforce” to support digital access for everyone and improve the digital competency of the disabled.

"This is a part of digital inclusion," Communication and Informatics Minister (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate remarked while announcing the winners of the competition here on Monday.

The biennial competition is a part of the ministry's efforts to improve digital access and empower the disabled, he explained.

The empowerment program organized by the ministry came in the form of the "Digital ICT Camp for Youth with Disabilities” in August this year and National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for the disabled workforce.

The training was extended to the regional-level “ICT Competition for Disabled” held in September, which involved 853 participants.

The participants who won the regional-level competition competed in the national-level competition for the Menkominfo Trophy.

The categories featured in the national-level competition comprised content creation, digital marketing, digital office, and digital public relations. Each competition category had two levels: introductory and advanced.

The ministry also created a special category as a form of affirmation for the frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T), border, and priority development areas.

On Monday, the ministry awarded the Menkominfo Trophy to 25 winners from each category, including participants from the 3T, border, and priority development areas.

Yeni Endah Kusumaningtyas (35) from Semarang, Central Java, who was adjudged the champion in the content creation category at the introductory level, submitted a post from her personal blog for the competition.

The blog post related the story of her independence in carrying out activities.

The ministry will also provide an opportunity to the first-place winners of the national-level competition to participate in a comparative study on the implementation of access for the disabled overseas.
