"On the 25th day of October, Kazakhstan celebrates the Republic Day. If one asks why this date is considered a key one, I would answer that it was on this day in 1990 that the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan was adopted," Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia Daniyar Sarekenov said in a statement here on Wednesday.

"It enshrined such principles of statehood as the integrity, indivisibility, and inviolability of the territory and strengthening of national identity," Sarekenov stated.

He pointed out that the Declaration stated that the revival and development of the original culture, traditions, language, and strengthening of the national dignity of the Kazakh nation and other nationalities living in Kazakhstan were one of the most important tasks.

"It also emphasized that all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, constituted the people of Kazakhstan, and that they were the only bearer of sovereignty and the source of state power," he stated.

As President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said: "The republic is built thanks to the joint efforts of those citizens who are responsible for their affairs. And these citizens are the backbone of a state. Without citizens, there will be no state".
