Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is committed to accelerating development of the future capital Nusantara by utilizing the Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology.

The ministry's secretary general, Mohammad Zainal Fatah, noted that apart from the existing resources, the ministry will also use new resources acquired through interaction and collaboration with other cultures and technologies.

"One of (the new technologies) which we are acquainted to and utilize now is the BIM resource which will facilitate the coordination, integration, efficiency, and construction implementation control," Fatah noted in his remarks during the 2022 BIM Innovation Conference here, Thursday.

He said that the BIM technology was not merely an application of computer operation but also provides a digital representation of a building's physical characteristics and functions.

BIM technology is a digital methodology utilizing digital data inputs obtained from the actual physical conditions to identify construction risks optimally.

Advantages of the technology are increasing efficiency and accuracy through coordination between relevant stakeholders, more lean and transparent design and construction progress, and calculation accuracy. The technology is expected to reduce mistakes in the construction process and expedite it.

Meanwhile, the ministry's official said that as the ongoing major project undergone by the ministry, the new capital would be developed as a smart forest city.

"Hence, development of the new capital will be pivotal in our mission to transform the nation in the live, work, and mobilization aspects while remaining committed to preserving the environment," Fatah noted.

Earlier, on Wednesday (November 23), Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that his ministry is ready to start construction of the central government's 1B and 1C main areas in the Nusantara Capital City.

Hadimuljono also spoke of having reported to the Finance Ministry regarding the president's order on the development of 1B and 1C areas.

Based on Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022 on Details of the Nusantara City Master Plan, the core area functions as the Central Government Planning Area (WP) and is divided into the three sub-sectors of Sub-WP 1A, Sub- WP 1B, and Sub-WP 1C.
