The solution is that we need data that can be processed into information
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor highlighted the importance of single accurate and factual manpower data for the decision-making process in a bid to bolster performance of the Indonesian economy.

The performance of the Indonesian economy shows positive growth amid stagnation of the global economy, Noor stated during the 2022 Single Manpower Data Forum streamed virtually on Tuesday.

Improving this necessitates a well-performing manpower sector, he emphasized.

"To this end, we need to be able to enact the manpower development policy based on evidences and facts, not perception or intuition," he explained.

"The solution is that we need data that can be processed into information," he stated.

Accurate data can help in resolving an issue. However, there are several important factors that need to be considered to produce accurate manpower data, Noor highlighted.

The first factor concerns the relevancy between data and its intended use, with specific data needed for certain purposes.

He cited as an example, data needed for the workers' prosperity issue will differ from data needed to create the program target.

The other factor that should be considered in the single manpower data is punctuality to ensure that the data can describe the latest condition.

"This necessitates integration of data from various sources," he noted.

Noro also underlined the importance of data reliability, so that the data precision rate can be maintained and valid sample can be taken, so that the conclusion that researchers reach can provide an accurate picture.

Moreover, manpower data should be accessible by various parties. The current situation sometimes makes data access limited to just a few parties.

The 2022 Single Manpower Data Forum is streamed virtually on the Ministry of Manpower's YouTube channel and is held on November 28-30, 2022.
