Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government has decided to allocate a budget of Rp10 trillion for social assistance as a precautionary measure against the global economic recession expected in 2023.

"(The fund will be used) for the food resilience program," acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono informed after attending a plenary meeting held to pass the draft 2023 provincial budget into a bylaw at the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) Building on Tuesday.

The budget fund will be allocated for a number of social assistance programs, including the provision of low-priced foods, food subsidies, the Smart Jakarta Card (KJP) program, the Jakarta Elderly Card program, and the Jakarta Child Card (KAJ) program.

In addition, the fund will be used to provide assistance for people with disabilities, school operations, and the health, manpower, and tourism fields.

The program for mitigating the impact of the potential global economic recession in 2023 is one of the three priority programs for Jakarta besides flood and traffic congestion control.

Meanwhile, the plenary meeting agreed on a provincial budget of Rp83.78 trillion in 2023, an increase from Rp82.47 trillion in 2022.

The 2023 provincial budget comprises Rp74.38 trillion from local income and Rp9.40 trillion from financing receipts.

Meanwhile, the provincial expenditures for 2023 are expected to reach Rp74.61 trillion and financing expenditures Rp9.16 trillion.
