Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, accompanied by the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman made a working visit to Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi province, on Saturday.

The vice president took off on Saturday morning from the Sultan Hasanuddin Air Force Base here on the Indonesian Air Force’s Super Puma presidential VVIP helicopter.

After a 60-minute flight, the vice president arrived at the helipad of Andi Ninnong stadium, Sengkang city, Wajo district, and was greeted by Wajo district head Amran Mahmud and deputy district head Amran as well as the general chairperson of the As'adiyah Islamic Boarding School Center, Muhammad Sagena.

The vice president's agenda in Sengkang city included opening the XV Conference of the As'adiyah Islamic Boarding School at Merdeka Square, Sengkang city.

"On behalf of the South Sulawesi provincial government, I, the Governor of South Sulawesi, and the entire community and special representatives of the As'adiyah, welcome the Vice President, Mr. K.H. Ma'ruf Amin," Sulaiman said.

Deputy chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras; member of Commission VI of DPR RI, Rapsel Ali; high priest of Istiqlal Mosque Jakarta, K.H. Nazaruddin Umar; and director general of Islamic community guidance, Kamaruddin, also attended the opening ceremony for the conference.

The theme of the conference, which is taking place from December 3–5, 2022, is “Transformation of As'adiyah's Wasathiyah Values towards a Resilient and Dignified Indonesia.”

After the inauguration ceremony, Amin returned to Makassar.

His next agenda was to officially open a gathering of the academic community at the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) and inaugurate the Sharia Economic and Financial Regional Committee (KDEKS) of South Sulawesi province at the UMI Campus, Makassar city.
