Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Police have questioned three relatives of the suspect, who blew himself up at the Astanaanyar police station in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (December 7).

The police's Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, stated that the decision to question three family members of the suspect, identified as Agus Sujatno alias Agus Muslim, aims to establish a connection between the family member and the suicide bombing.

"If we found the three family members have no connection (to the suicide bombing), they are allowed to go," Ramadhan stated at the Bandung Police Office here, Thursday.

He remarked that apart from the three family members, dozens of people have also been questioned by the investigator, including six Astanaanyar police station officers and nine residents close to the bombing site.

Meanwhile, West Java Police General Criminal Investigation Director Senior Commissioner Yani Sudarto confirmed that as of Thursday noon, questioning was underway of the three family members of the suspect.

During the investigation, the police also collected 23 pieces of evidence, including bomb fragments, articles carried and used by the suspect, including sheets of paper, a cellphone, and a motorcycle, as well as surveillance camera recordings around the crime scene, he stated.

"What we are disclosing now is only what we found at the police office, while the suspect's journey (to the police office) remains under investigation, and we are not disclosing that yet," Sudarto remarked.

A suicide bombing occurred at the Astanaanyar police office in Bandung, West Java, Wednesday at 8 a.m. local time (UTC +7). The perpetrator was killed instantly.

Some 11 people, including 10 police officers and a resident, fell victim to the bombing. First Adjunct Inspector Sofyan was killed in the bombing after being evacuated to a hospital.
