The joint prayer, which is the ministry's annual event, was opened with a speech by the minister. On the occasion, Rismaharini said that in prayer, they hoped that no more disasters should occur and that residents staying at evacuation sites would remain strong and patient.

Rismaharini also expressed hope that volunteers at the disaster sites would optimally help disaster survivors, so that they can continue to lead better lives.

"We must be sure that God will not give a test that is beyond our strength, even though I know it is very hard, but again, let us pray that we will not have any more of what I mentioned (disasters)," she stated.

The joint prayer was held Islamically, led by Fatwa Commission Deputy Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) K.H. Dr. Endang Mintarja. In addition, prayers from other five religions were also held in separate rooms.

The joint prayer, held on-site and online, was attended by all employees in the Social Affairs Ministry, both central and regional.
