"We build a post, so that police personnel are closer to the core area of IKN Nusantara (and) is supported by the National Armed Forces (TNI) to guard the IKN construction," East Kalimantan Police Chief Imam Sugianto remarked here on Saturday.
He accentuated the need to improve security and supervision on account of an increase in the development and construction of the IKN Nusantara infrastructure.
The East Kalimantan Police has established the Nusantara Post at the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN Nusantara in the Sepaku Sub-district.
Construction work underway for IKN Nusantara's basic infrastructure are the Sepaku-Semoi Dam, the Sepaku River water intake, and the widening of the Petung-Sepaku connection road.
The Sepaku Ring Road, workers' barracks, and retention basin are also being constructed.
In 2023, the central government will build the State Palace, offices of ministries and other state institutions, schools, hospitals, markets, department stores, and entertainment facilities as well as several toll road points connecting IKN Nusantara.
In 2024, state leaders, including civil servants, police, and armed forces, will begin to move to IKN Nusantara.
Furthermore, the second phase of construction will start from 2025 and continue until 2029 by strengthening the core area, specifically developing public transportation and expanding offices, housing, and commercial areas.
The third phase from 2029 to 2045 will cover much broader and massive developments in education, health, and high-tech industries.
The East Kalimantan Police will ready around 500 personnel in 2023 to supervise and secure the core area of IKN Nusantara in addition to observing the surrounding condition and possible threats to the project development area.
