Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has involved journalists in updating the Indonesian Football Philosophy curriculum (Filanesia).

More than 20 journalists from various mass media in Indonesia shared their views and inputs with PSSI, which was represented by PSSI’s technical director Indra Sjafri.

"We consider it necessary (to receive inputs) from the media, regarding the transformation in Indonesian football from year to year. Media crew always follow the matches, especially the Indonesian national team," Sjafri said here on Friday.

He emphasized that the media has an important part in improving the Filanesia curriculum that has existed since 2017.

The activity entitled “Filanesia Upgrade” is being carried out from December 6–19, 2022. Earlier, various stakeholders, such as former national team players and coaches, physical coaches, goalkeeper coaches, colleges, psychologists, doctors, physiotherapists, and young football players were also invited.

"Thank you for giving views and inputs on what we should upgrade in Filanesia. Thank you for the good synergy between the Youth and Sports Ministry and PSSI," Sjafri added.

The Filanesia Curriculum rejuvenation is crucial considering that in the International Football Federation (FIFA) ecosystem, the 20 best countries in terms of football coaching or development have their own philosophies.

"Filanesia has been running for four years and along the way, we need an update. Speaking of philosophy, the curriculum is the byproduct. It becomes a syllabus and then a module containing training materials. The module is the coaches’ guide to train (players) on the field," Sjafri explained.

According to information provided on the PSSI’s website, Filanesia has been formulated to take advantage of the nation’s great potential in football.

Filanesia values are outlined in the Indonesian Football Development curriculum book. Filanesia is a philosophy that has become the foundation and character of Indonesian football, both for young people and professionals in terms of individuals and teams.
