Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian national police (Polri) apprehended a man suspected to be a sympathizer of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist groups in Yogyakarta on Sunday.

“Today, on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 6.00 to 9.00 am local time, one target on suspicion of terrorism, identified by the initials as AW (39), was arrested,” Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, noted in a statement here, Sunday.

Ramadhan said, the involvement of AW, who is indicated as ISIS sympathizer, was known as he has actively posted pictures and videos of ISIS propaganda on his social media account.

Moreover, he often called out provocative messages for acts of terror, Ramadhan stated.

The police found that the accused man was supposed to plan the will of carrying out terror attacks using explosives.
