...I think it (the matches) will be very tight and exciting, as well as not easy for anyone.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Istora Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, is ready to host the BWF World Tour Super 500 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2023 from Tuesday (January 24, 2023) to Sunday (January 29), the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has said.

"Currently, the preparations for the Indonesia Masters 2023 are almost complete and 95 percent of (the facilities in) Istora are ready. Tomorrow, on the (first) match day, everything will be finished," secretary general of the PBSI Muhammad Fadil Imran informed at a press conference here on Monday.

He said he expects the competition this year to be tough. Many top global badminton players are participating in the tournament, which is the third event of the 2023 BWF World Tour after the Malaysia Open and India Open, and this will make it more exciting, Imran added.

"Seeing the badminton players who come (to take part in the Indonesia Masters 2023), I think it (the matches) will be very tight and exciting, as well as not easy for anyone," he opined.

A total of 277 players from 23 countries will participate in the competition, including the host’s representatives, six of whom dominate the seedings.

The Indonesian players who will compete in the men's singles are Jonatan Christie (fifth) and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (sixth). Indonesia will put two more players in the fray, namely Shesar Hiren Rhustavito and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
