North Penajam Paser, E Kaliman (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health is improving health facilities of the regional public hospital (RSUD) in Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan, to serve infrastructure construction workers of Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara (IKN).

The ministry intended to change the planning of RSUD Sepaku, so that it would have adequate service capacity, Head of the Health Office of North Penajam Paser, Jansje Grace Makisurat, said here on Monday.

The change in planning aims to ensure that the hospital does not only serve the local community but also workers involved in the construction of infrastructure of the new capital Nusantara.

So far, the facilities of RSUD Sepaku are not yet adequate to provide health services to construction workers.

Makisurat further noted that in 2023, the Ministry of Health has allotted Rp12 billion (about 790.8 thousand US dollars) through the special allocation fund (DAK) in order to improve the health facilities of RSUD Sepaku,

The funding is used for the construction of inpatient rooms, with a total capacity of 100 beds, in accordance with the planning of the hospital.

This month, officials of the Ministry of Health will visit North Penajam Paser District to attend a presentation regarding the change in the planning of RSUD Sepaku.

"Apart from RSUD Sepaku , health services at all community health centers (puskesmas) in Sepaku Sub-district also need to be maximized," she remarked.

There are four community health centers in Sepaku Sub-district, namely puskesmas Sepaku Satu, Sepaku Tiga, Semoi Dua and Maridan.

Improvement in the four centers is carried out in terms of buildings, facilities, human resources and health workers, she stated.
