The project is really ambitious and I am looking forward to further presentations regarding this project in the near future.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has invited Czech investors to invest in the development of environmentally friendly mass transportation in Indonesia’s future capital (IKN) Nusantara.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) extended the invitation while receiving a courtesy call from Czech Prime Minister (PM) Petr Fiala at Bogor Presidential Palace, Bogor city, West Java province, on Tuesday.
"I invite (the business players of) the Republic of Czech to invest in IKN Nusantara, especially for environmentally friendly mass transportation," Widodo said at a joint press conference with PM Fiala in the Lotus Room at the palace.
They held the joint press conference after holding a bilateral meeting. Speaking at the conference, Widodo lauded the initiative of the Czech Prime Minister to bring a number of representatives of Czech companies during his visit to Indonesia.
The Indonesian President said that the attempt showed the commitment of the Czech government to building and strengthening cooperation with Indonesia.
Widodo’s invitation to Czech business players to invest in IKN Nusantara was welcomed by the Czech Prime Minister.
"The project is really ambitious and I am looking forward to further presentations regarding this project in the near future," Fiala said.
He also noted that a number of Czech companies have shown interest in taking part in the development of Nusantara.
"Some of them (the representatives of Czech companies) are on this visit with me, they can provide smart and green technologies, for example," he added.
In addition to business representatives, Fiala was accompanied by head of the Czech Government Office, Jana Kotalikova; director general of the Czech Prime Minister’s Office, Petra Fojtikova; and Czech National Security Advisor Tomas Pojak.
A spokesperson for the Czech government, Vaclav Smolka; director of the Asia Department at the Czech Foreign Affairs Ministry, Marek Libricky; and the Czech Ambassador to Indonesia, Jaroslav Dolecek, also accompanied the Czech PM on the occasion.
Meanwhile, President Widodo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Deputy Trade Minister Jerry Sambuaga, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Kenssy D. Ekaningsih. (INE)
