"We have reminded them to not submit their list of candidates on the final day so that they will have spare time to complete their registration in the event of incomplete administrative requirements," a KPU Official Idham Holik told journalists at the KPU office in Jakarta on Friday.
He reiterated that the registrations will be open until 11.59 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) on May 14.
As of Friday, the fifth day of registrations, the KPU had not received any registrations for DPR candidates, nor any official notices from political parties' leaders regarding their plans to register their candidates at the KPU office, he disclosed.
He appealed to political parties at the central level to send a letter of notification to KPU at least one day prior to registering their DPR candidates.
According to the official, two political parties have issued unofficial statements regarding their schedules for registering their candidates. One of them is the NasDem Party, which has pushed back its registration plan from this Friday to Wednesday (May 10).
The second one is the United Development Party (PPP), which has unofficially said that it will register its candidates contesting legislature seats on Monday (May 8).
Nevertheless, KPU is still waiting for notice of the two parties' fixed schedules through official letters.
Earlier, on April 30, the KPU announced that the registrations for DPR candidates would take place simultaneously with those running for legislatures at the provincial, district, and municipal levels (DPRD) as well as the Regional Representative Council (DPD) from May 1–14.
The registrations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 1 to May 13 and from 8 a.m. to 11.59 p.m. WIB on May 14.
The KPU has also allowed the public to observe the registration process on its YouTube Channel.
