Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD urged all national components to ensure the success of the 2024 General Elections as a manifestation of the noble values of the national ideology of Pancasila.

Mahfud's statements were conveyed while presenting remarks from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Pancasila Day ceremony in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday.

"I encourage all of us to ensure the success of honest, secure, and peaceful elections. We should maintain harmony and unity to realize conduciveness. Those are the implementation of Pancasila values," he noted as per the written statement here.

The spirit of Pancasila should be realized in thought, action, and social relations of all individuals to achieve national solidarity, and all people should understand the importance of developing national character, with Pancasila as the foundation, he emphasized.

"Soekarno has provided us with the basic tenets that Pancasila and nationalism should continue to be developed and inherited by future generations," the coordinating minister stated.

He affirmed that everyone should also develop a collective commitment to enhance national character and maintain tolerance and harmony in daily life.

"Continue your limitless work and activities by utilizing the progress of information and communication technology to enhance unity and integrity that will benefit efforts to develop our civilization," Mahfud stated.

Meanwhile, Ende District Head Djafar Achmad, who attended the ceremony along with East Nusa Tenggara Deputy Governor Josef Nae Soi, said his side had organized various agendas, such as parades, to commemorate Pancasila Day.

"Yesterday, we organized a holy reflection night agenda. This is only in Ende, and it is one of our forms of tribute to Pancasila. From Ende to Indonesia," Achmad stated.

The Pancasila Day ceremony took place in Ende to commemorate the region considered as being the birthplace of Pancasila.

The five tenets of Pancasila were formulated by national founder and first president Soekarno when he was exiled to Ende by the Dutch colonial regime from 1934 to 1938. His exile home is now a museum.
