The governor extended appreciation to the Indian envoy for the cooperation plan while briefing him on Riau's potentials and advantages, highlighting the province's highly promising investment potential.
"Riau wields enormous potentials of investment and industry that can be developed. The province's industrial areas can be found in Dumai, Pekanbaru, and Siak," he stated in Pekanbaru City, Riau, on Wednesday.
In addition, Riau is home to the Muara Takus Temple, a cultural site that has only once hosted a national-level event.
Hence, Governor Syamsuar implied that he looked forward to designating the temple as the host for annual national events, that, in turn, can involve the Indian Consulate General.
Meanwhile, the Indian Consul General, who is stationed in Medan, North Sumatra, expressed interest in participating in cultural events in the province, saying, "Delegates from India can come and join the province's annual cultural events."
He further noted that efforts to explore cooperation opportunities in the industrial sector align with the commitments of the presidents and economic affairs ministers of Indonesia and India to strengthening the countries' trade ties.
Singh then highlighted that his government has prepared a quota for 100 Indonesian citizens in the government employee training program, adding that those interested in enrolling in the program can visit its dedicated website to view the requirements as well as the training courses offered.
During their meeting, Governor Syamsuar and Consul General Singh exchanged souvenirs as a symbol of friendship.
The meeting was held at the governor's residence in Pekanbaru and attended by Assistant II of the Riau Regional Secretariat M. Job Kurniawan, Riau's Head of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office Erisman Yahya, and representatives of regional governmental apparatus organizations (OPDs).
Consul General Singh's visit this time marks the second trip of the consulate general, while the first visit took place prior to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
