Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara National Capital Authority (OIKN) held a focus group discussion (FGD) to discuss the preparation of strategies for developing arts and culture in the new capital city Nusantara (IKN) on Friday in Surabaya, East Java.

The FGD involved stakeholders, artists, art institutions, and universities to discuss the establishment of arts and culture in IKN that take into account the aspects of sustainability, community participation, and cultural heritage preservation as main priorities.

Deputy for Social, Culture, and Community Empowerment of OIKN Alimuddin said he has pinned high hopes on being able to formulate arts and culture policies in IKN. He underlined the need to create something different in the new capital through arts and culture.

"We want to create a liveable and lovable city. I ensure that art and culture become one of the attractions in the Nusantara National Capital," he stated.

"This FGD is expected to produce something that can be used as a basis for the formation or formulation of arts and culture in IKN," he remarked.

On this occasion, the OIKN, along with nine tertiary art institutions, agreed to establish a cultural arts collegium that will involve nine art universities, including ISI Surakarta, ISI Yogyakarta, ISBI Bandung, and Institut Kesenian Jakarta.
