"The incident has left a deep emotional impact on residents. Therefore, we provide trauma healing programs as humanitarian action through the Tangerang City's ambassadors for children," Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah stated here on Monday.
Trauma healing is expected to guide children to recover emotionally and be able to continue their daily lives.
Wismansyah remarked that the evacuated children will receive both individual and group counseling and other recovery activities specifically designed to rebuild their self-confidence and resilience.
"The families of the children will also be provided with the support needed to help them cope with the incident," he stated.
According to the city government's data, as of October 22, at least 167 residents of Neglasari Sub-district were evacuated due to the dense smoke from the Rawa Kucing landfill fire.
The city government conducted evacuation efforts on Saturday (October 21) afternoon, as the blaze had kicked up again. The fire itself initially started on Friday (October 20) afternoon due to the extreme heat.
Mayor Wismansyah affirmed that the trauma healing program by the city's ambassadors for children is a form of humanitarian action.
"We are concerned about the children affected by the fire at the Rawa Kucing landfill because the smoke was so thick. These children, our present and future assets, need our full support," he stressed.
Head of Neglasari Sub-district, Andhika Nugraha, stated that the evacuated residents have received maximum service and assistance from various parties, such as clothing and diapers for toddlers.
He ensured that the evacuated people could be handled by health workers on standby from the local health office, health center, and the Indonesian Red Cross.
