Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 elections, namely Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

The three pairs have also revealed their respective vision and mission that will give the public an idea of how they will lead Indonesia if elected by the people.

Baswedan-Iskandar, who drew serial number 1 for next year's presidential election, carries the vision of "Just and Prosperous Indonesia for All," with the mission "Eight Paths for Change."

Subianto-Raka, who drew number 2, presents the vision of "Together, Advanced Indonesia, towards Golden Indonesia 2045," with eight main missions namely "Delapan Misi Asta Cita."

Pranowo-Mahfud, who got number 3, raises the vision of "Towards Superior Indonesia: Quick Steps to Realize a Just and Sustainable Maritime State," with a mission called "Eight Fast Actions."

The president and vice president of the Republic of Indonesia will not only be in charge of determining policy directions in the country but also foreign policies.

The elected pair's vision and mission will be a guide to lead Indonesia to contribute and participate in world peace.

Baswedan-Iskandar

The Baswedan-Iskandar pair, among others, seeks to strengthen the country's defense and security system and increase Indonesia's role and leadership in the global political arena to realize national interests and world peace.

The policy aims to place Indonesia's position as the epicenter of the Southeast Asian region as well as the pulse of the world economy and stabilizer for regional geopolitical conditions.

Baswedan-Iskandar is determined to push Indonesia's active role in determining the big agenda of the world and mankind.

This is based on the mandate of the founding fathers that the nation must uphold the free-active principle in participating in realizing world order based on independence, lasting peace, and social justice.

The pair is eager to strengthen the country's defense systems and strategies that are adaptive to the global dynamics and the current era that is replete with uncertainties, challenges, and conventional and unconventional threats.

In addition, the pair will strengthen economic and socio-cultural diplomacy, so that Indonesia can utilize various global potentials to realize progress and justice.

Subianto-Raka

In preparing its vision, mission, and programs for the 2024-2029 period, Subianto-Raka strongly considers the strategic challenges faced by the nation.

One of the points of consideration in the pair's policy formulation was President Joko Widodo's speech on October 7, 2023, which said, "The challenge ahead is not getting lighter, but getting tougher. The world is not doing well. There are wars, climate change, and food crises."

Regarding policies in maintaining world peace, Subianto-Raka emphasized two aspects, with the first being prolonged conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine that could increase food and energy prices as the global supply chain is disrupted.

The second is the rivalry between the two superpowers China and the US over Taiwan that can threaten the supply chains of food, energy, and trade passing seaborne through Indonesia, such as through the Malacca Strait and the North Natuna Sea.

Hence, to ensure that Indonesia can actively maintain world peace and continue to guard national interests in the global political arena, the pair's policy is to strengthen the country's defense and security as well as maintain conducive international relations.

The pair believes that prosperity can be realized in a conducive and peaceful situation.

In addition, the pair believes that a strong nation is able to do and create anything that it aspires to and will be respected by other nations.

Pranowo-Mahfud

The pair's foreign policy centers on "accelerating and increasing Indonesia's role in realizing a new and more just world order through the free-active foreign policy and strengthening the country's defense."

To realize its foreign policy, the pair elaborates on several main points, such as carrying out progressive geopolitical coexistence, namely carrying out the free-active foreign politics with the principle of the Dasasila Bandung, or Ten Principles of Bandung, to fight for Indonesia's interests as the world's maritime axis.

The pair also seeks to strengthen Indonesia's autonomously global involvement in bilateral and multilateral forums in fighting for world peace and strengthen the commitment to support the struggle of the Palestinian people.

In boosting economic competitiveness, the pair focuses on establishing international agreements that are entirely based on national interests and prioritize domestic products.

It also aspires to make Indonesian embassies to be at the forefront of serving Indonesian citizens abroad, facilitate exports, and strengthen the protection of migrant workers.

In strengthening security, the pair will modernize and transform the defense sector and the military armament system with technology 5.0, boost soldiers' welfare, build a world-class defense industry, develop strong cybersecurity and protection, and maintain territorial sovereignty through strategic forecasting.

The foreign policies of the three pairs can provide perspective to the public on how Indonesia will engage with the world in the next five years.

The voting day on February 14, 2024, is when the people hold full power to determine the direction and progress of Indonesia on the world stage.
