"We have placed personnel and carried out sterilization in Ring 1 of the debate area, and the area for the presidential candidates and guests," Central Jakarta Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, confirmed here.
Security is also in place at Ring 2 and Ring 3, which are located at the outermost sector or the entrance and exit to the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and the parking lots.
In order to secure the third presidential debate held by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Sunday evening, the police deployed as many as 3,101 joint personnel consisting of the Indonesian Military (TNI), the police, the Jakarta Provincial Government and related agencies.
As the debate location is within the GBK area, there will be no road closures, and traffic schemes will only be applied according to the situation.
"We will look at the situation dynamics to close or divert the traffic. We also want to not disturb people who do activities around the GBK area," he said.
Meanwhile, the KPU has set debate rules for the 2024 election presidential candidates as well as rules for supporters of candidate pairs. The police said they would carry out their security techniques by being persuasive and humane.
With the readiness of security, Condro asked all parties to always maintain security and order during the presidential debate. KPU will hold the third presidential debate at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday night, starting at 7 p.m. local time.
The third debate, which will carry the themes of defense, security, international relations, globalization, geopolitics, and foreign policy, will be guided by two moderators, namely Anisha Dasuki and Aryo Ardi.
