Producers and importers of commodities listed in the government's K3L regulation need to propose registration for their products.Jakarta (ANTARA) -
Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, has urged officials at the Trade Ministry to protect Indonesians from hazardous products by paying close attention to the aspects of security, safety, health, and environment (K3L).
"The Ministry of Trade must affirm its commitment to supervising goods based on the K3L aspects. This is important to protect all Indonesian consumers from the risks of hazard," he said in Minahasa, North Sulawesi, on Saturday, according to a statement received here the same day.
He pointed out that the Trade Ministry has established the Center for Commerce Supervision (BPTN) with the aim of exercising optimal supervision on commodities. Currently, BPTN has four offices — in Medan, Bekasi, Surabaya, and Makassar.
In fulfilling its tasks, he said, BPTN needs to strengthen cooperation with regional governments regarding inspection, supervision, and law enforcement in the trade sector to ensure lawful commercial activities in all regions of Indonesia.
He further said that producers and importers of commodities listed in the government's K3L regulation need to propose registration for their products.
"All products related to the K3L regulation, be it domestically produced or imported, must be registered. Producers and importers need to propose inspections on their products before distributing them," Sambuaga emphasized.
Law No. 6 of 2023 mandates the ministry's Directorate General of Orderly Commerce to oversee the storage of basic and vital commodities, issuance of permits for warehouses, implementation of the Indonesian National Standards, and registration of products listed in the K3L regulation.
The government has included 22 electric products in its K3L list, including vacuum cleaners, electric toasters, rice cookers, electric kettles, hair dryers, microwaves, electric shavers, and electric massage devices.
Instant water heaters, multipurpose electric pans, electric ovens, blenders, juicers, mixers, food processors, dispensers, electric hand dryers, electric hair straighteners, electric drills, electric grinders, planer machines, and electric saws are also included in the list.
