Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed optimism about Indonesia holding its 79th Independence anniversary ceremony at the new capital (IKN) Nusantara on August 17 this year.

"I am optimistic that we will hold the ceremony of the Independence anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at IKN Nusantara on August 17, 2024. God Willing," he said, according to a press release received from his secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He made the statement at the National Axis, IKN, East Kalimantan, after inspecting and launching the development of several infrastructures.

The head of state said that the government has continued to make progress in developing Nusantara, as evidenced by the increasing number of business players parking their capital in projects at IKN, including the Jambuluwuk Nusantara Hotel.

"Earlier, we held a groundbreaking for the Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort, which is the sixth hotel (project to begin construction). Let us hope that the development will be completed as soon as possible," he added.

He then drew attention to the commencement of the development of the Nusantara Logistic Super Hub involving state-run postal service PT Pos Indonesia and state-run property developer PT Bina Karya.

"Matters related to logistics will be handled by Pos Indonesia and Bina Karya," he informed.

The President further said that the government will launch 8–10 projects every month at Nusantara, adding that several investors have lined up to take part in developing Indonesia's future capital.

"It is true that numerous (investors) have expressed their interest (in investing at IKN). However, it is important to sift them in order to conform to the needs in Nusantara," he said.
